After cancelling our Slide hike twice due to weather we decided to proceed with our third date despite expecting low single digit temperatures and high winds. Because of the change to a weekday and the forecast only two of us hiked Slide, but OMG was it ever beautiful. The trails were a perfect mix of 1/2 inch of snow over ice, making for easy hiking with spikes. It was a sunny day with beautiful blue skies. Summit temp around 10º F. The expected high winds turned out to be light breezes. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day, or for easier trail conditions.

Kathleen Carver Cheney and leader Roger Green had a super fun hike. 

Roger hopes to offer to hike Slide again with anyone who couldn’t make it because of the cancellations and intimidating forecast.
