A fun-filled day for the whole family. Bring the kids and grandchildren. The Kingston Kayak Festival is not just kayaks. There’ll also be canoes and stand-up paddle boards (SUPs). The emphasis is on education, demonstrations, lessons and tours for beginner paddlers and people who have not paddled before. There will, however, also be some activities for experienced paddlers who bring their own boats and gear.
Activities for beginners and non-paddlers will include:
Land-based kayak lessons
Water-based kayak lessons
Guided kayak tours.
Activities for experienced paddlers, with their own boats and gear, will include:
Assisted and solo reentry lessons followed by rolling lessons.
There will be boats from Confluence, Hurricane, Old Town, Slip Stream and Jackson to test paddle.
For those who want to try SUPs, there will be a presentation and demo on choosing the right board for you. There will be SUPs by Board Works to test paddle.
Browse the used boat and gear sale. If you want to sell something, contact Russ. There will be a food vendor or bring your own picnic lunch.
Entry fee: $10 donation to Forsyth Nature Center. Mid-Hudson ADK members enter free. Bring your membership card.
