Sun, Jan 11 – High Peterskill Loop
Leader: Roberta Forest
We started this hike from Lower Awosting car park, crossed the road and put on our microspikes (or other foot traction). As it was a warm day, the High Peterskill Trail was a mix of snow, some ice, some wet and muddy spots and areas of bare rock. The sun was shining as we walked this trail, enjoying the views and other varied terrain. When we descended to the Peterskill, the water was strongly flowing (the result of yesterday’s rain and snowmelt from temperatures in the 40’s). When we reached the Peterskill lot, we had lunch on the picnic tables, enjoying the sun. As we finished lunch, the winds picked up and the clouds came in. The carriage road we now travelled to Awosting Falls was all ice. The falls were falling rapidly. Participants were: Steve G, Cathie S, James H, David W, Judy B, Kathy C and Gwen L. Hike leader was Roberta F.
