Help us Build a Water Trail on the Fishkill Creek

The Mid-Hudson ADK, partnered with the Fishkill Creek Water Alliance, has committed to opening a canoe & kayak water trail on the Fishkill Creek, which flows from Hopewell Jct. to near Beacon, NY. There are short sections one can paddle, but blowdowns limit the paddler.

The Fishkill Creek is quiet-water, with no beaver dams & no whitewater (except for a Class 1 to 1+) in the Village of Fishkill.  The creek could offer the paddler a serene, rejuvenating experience of many miles.  There are many sections where one gets the sense that he/she is far away in the wild.  In reality, the creek flows through a mainly suburbanized area.  It is an exciting idea to build a long water trail here.

We are looking to assemble work parties during the upcoming months. We will be working with the idea of safety first. This means we want you to do only what you can do, knowing your own strength & capabilities.  We will never be using chainsaws; handsaws & loppers will be the tools we’ll use the most.
