Leader: Annette Caruso
October 25, 2020
On Sunday October 25th, eight ADK members enjoyed endless views of the still beautiful fall colors across the Shawangunk Ridge from the River-to-Ridge Trail in New Paltz. This is an extremely easy albeit long trail, and with the added excursion walk to town afterwards put most of us over the 7 mile mark. There were frequent stops along the way, as all manner of mushrooms were observed, and the cattle on the adjacent farms made for excellent photo subjects. This trail just opened in September, 2018, and no-one other then the leader had embarked on it before. We all agreed it’s a keeper: you’ve got a view of the Mohonk tower on the way in, and a wide even trail that made it easier to socialize and social distance. Leaving the cars in the lot and taking the extra mile or so for lunch in New Paltz was a pleasant change and windup to a beautiful day outdoors.
Hikers: Ellen K, Margaret D, Connie H, Charlotte M, John R, Sayi N and welcome to 1st time hiker brand new member James D!
