We had an enthusiastic group of 15 ADK and non-ADK members for this upstate paddle. We spent a leisurely, sunny Saturday afternoon paddling through the five historic “Flight of Locks” in the Erie Canal. This part of the canal, built in 1907, provides a shortcut from the Mohawk to the Hudson River, around Cohoes Falls. We paddled less than 3 miles in the quiet waters, stopping only to wait for each lock to drain so we could proceed to the take-out. Time spent in the locks was perfect to get to know the other paddlers! ADK member Vince W. decided not to paddle; instead, he followed us from lock to lock, taking awesome photos from above. Thank you, Vince!
Several participants celebrated our victory over the locks with a late lunch at a local restaurant.
Paddlers included ADK members Martha R., Jan W., Jon B. and the leader, JeanetteTB.
Non-ADK members were Cathy P., David H., Laura E., Rose C., Teresa K, Joan D, Carol C, Buck W, Laura K, Melissa G, and Nick C.
