Prospect Mt. XC Skiing

We enjoyed great XC skiing on MLK Weekend at Prospect Mt. in Woodford, Vt. Though the trails are a bit thin on Friday, 6-7″ of new snow Friday night made for perfect conditions on Saturday. Continued snow throughout the weekend made for soft, fluffy conditions and a bit of a challenge for the groomer to keep up. This resort offers the following advantages: close proximity to Hudson Valley, a large lodge with food service, rental shop, low prices, amble hotel choices and restaurants in nearby Bennington and some backcountry ski options. On the site of an old downhill ski center, there were skiers with BC gear walking to the top and skiing down. Doing the same, as we did, on our thin XC skis made for a thrilling descent. The fresh snow made controlled falls safe! Attendees included Izumi C. , Jean-Claude F, and the leader, Rich Cerruto.
