250th Anniversary American Revolution History Hike at Garrison School Forest/Hudson Highlands State Park

Fri, Mar 27 – 250th Anniversary American Revolution History Hike at Garrison School Forest/Hudson Highlands State Park
Leader: Georgette Weir
History and Hudson River views were the focus of this early spring hike in Garrison. With our country’s 250th birthday in mind, we hiked to the locations of two Revolution-era forts, known as North and South Redoubts, opposite West Point. The old fortifications are today covered by dirt and vegetation, but their shapes can still be made out. that had been watch locations for American soldiers on the lookout for British ships coming up the river. And yes, George Washington once stood there. Joining Georgette W were Pete C, Terry H, Martha R, Katy B, Louis R, Shirley F and Joan B.
