Fri, Mar 27 to Sun, Mar 29 – Introduction to Winter Backpacking in PA

This was a joint outing with AMC.
We had another nice program with two participants, four leaders and one leader in training.  This was a replacement for a program in December we cancelled due to high wind warnings.  While it had been warm leading up to the program, we had a noted low temperature of 12 degrees.  The program is held at Hickory Run State Park in northeastern PA and has a national landmark of a 16.5 acre boulder field.  As with past programs we reviewed each person’s sleep system and demonstrated what the leaders carry in their backpacks or on their sleds.  This program was joint with AMC.  Group members included guest participants: Lou N & Pieranna P with AMC leader: Gwen H and AMC LIT: Larry Y.  ADK leaders were: Larry P, Bob C & David M.
