Pre-Picnic Walk in Bowdoin Park in Dutchess County
Leader: Georgette Weir
Our pre-picnic walk was surprisingly dry after a day of very heavy rain in the Poughkeepsie area. Eight walkers joined Georgette to explore trails at the southern end of the park. Along the way we saw turtles (snapping and painted in the aptly named Turtle Pond), a milk snake sliding into the brush and eliciting a surprised screech from one walker, a great blue heron taking off from its perch along the cove adjacent to the Hudson River, and fungi of all sorts. Participants were Greer R, Marie C, Sayi N, Howard S, Ginny F, Melda Y, Herm M, and Lisa M.
