Yes, it was cold–in the teens when we started. But not so cold to keep a congenial group of 6 from enjoying a good holiday weekend stretch of the legs at this Scenic Hudson Preserve in Esopus. In fact, we did a bit more than originally planned owing to unanimous enthusiasm–just shy of 6 miles (rather than 3.2) and just under 1000 feet of elevation (rather than 700). A short spur led to an icy waterfall, and along the main trail views of the Hudson River stretching north and south were magnificent. Co-leader Catherine Forbes, who is pursuing ADK leader certification, got one of her required co-leader hikes in with Georgette Weir. Joining them were Jeff H., Kathy A., Kathy and Chris B.
