Pine Road to Spring Farm Shuttle Hike
Sunday, March 22, 2026
Leader: Roberta Forest
This was a moderate hike over rolling hills on a less frequented trail in the Mohonk Preserve. As there were predictions of heavy rain in the afternoon, we met early and shuttled to our starting point. Trails were not as wet and muddy and streams were all passable after the winter snow. There were plants along the way, one section with owl pellets and some birds to be heard. We stopped for lunch at the base of the Bonticou Scramble and checked the forecast. 100% chance of rain in 20 minutes!, so we headed to our cars. We stopped at a pond that should have spring peepers but it was silent. The rain began and at the same moment, the peepers started singing! Participants were guest Rae S, along with ADK members Diane S, Monique R and the leader, Roberta F.
